Fat Quarter Frenzy Is Woven Today! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

We are back this week with another Fat Quarter Frenzy quilt tutorial!  We've been discovering new ways to utilize fat quarters in quilts, and if you're like me and have way too many, a way to use up some of the stash!  So far, we've used 48 fat quarters (!) - 16 in Meet Me in St. Louis, 14 in Kaleidoscope, and most recently 18 in a new version of Supernova.  But I'm still overflowing with fat quarters, so today we will be exploring a new tutorial, this time for a quilt I call Woven.  Let ...

This fabric collection is a must have! My favorite colors + gold metallic accents .. from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

This week’s new arrivals are amazing! I cannot get over the rich beauty of Luminosity by Deborah Edwards for Northcott Fabrics.

The teals, dark blues and greens combined with gold metallic accents make it my favorite color palette of all time. Plus the butterfly and peacock feather images, with a beautiful panel are just gorgeous.

You absolutely will love the two prints where the design runs from one selvedge edge to the other. Both are just begging to be used in a special way, like borders or quilt backing.

And for something completely different we have Tutu Much Attitude ...

Pretty in Pluses Baby Quilt from Dizzy Quilts

My boss, who's also a dear friend, is going to be a grand-mother this month. I waited to find out the sex of the baby and the nursery colours before I started planning the quilt. And once I had that information, I started pulling fabric and looking for a pattern to showcase the beautiful prints.

The pattern I used is Pretty in Pluses by Michelle Cain (From Bolt to Beauty). The pattern comes in three sizes: baby, throw and twin. I made the baby quilt and it finished at 40.5" x 48.5".

The instructions are really clear ...

New Anna Maria, Tim Holtz and a whole lot more! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

It’s been a minute since we did a new arrivals video, so we have A LOT to share with you today!

We have beautiful new fat quarter bundles from Anna Maria Horner and Tim Holtz. Anna Maria delivers beautiful color contrasts with bold color choices and large modern florals and does not disappoint.

Tim Holtz branches out a bit from his normal earth tones to create graffiti-like textures in some rich jewel tones. It still could work for a “man quilt” and I am just in love with his latest collection.

Then we’ve got three new kits for ...

The Ultimate Palate Cleanser: A 1-Hour Basket from Dizzy Quilts

This past week was a little crazy at work and after finishing a couple of lap sized quilts and a few garments, I needed a simple and quick sew. Whenever that happens, I almost always make a zipper pouch, but I remembered that my daughter-in-law recently requested a basket for my grand-daughter's room so I pulled out my Amy Butler fat quarters, pulled up the 1-Hour Basket Tutorial I saved years ago (from Kelby Sews) and got sewing!

I used the same fabric for the exterior and lining but didn't have enough to make the handles so I ...

The Julia Quilt from Dizzy Quilts

I finished another quilt this week and I love it a lot more than I thought I would!

Here is my pink and purple Julia Quilt by Kitchen Table Quilting.

This whole quilt started with me wanting to use Kona Lingerie as my background and a purple print from my stash as the backing. When I went searching through my fat quarters, I noticed my stash of pink and purple fat quarters is really depleted. My options were therefore a little limited and in the end, I just wasn't crazy about my selections. But now that it's all ...

Through Love Mini Quilt from Dizzy Quilts

I just finished this mini quilt and although it is only 16" x 19", it took me more time to make than many of my lap size quilts!

There is a lot of cutting and some very narrow strips in there! But I love the effect and how the word Love just appears because of the clever piecing.

I had grand plans for the quilting, but to be honest, after all that extremely tedious precision piecing, I didn't have any inclination toward intricate quilting. So I used my walking foot and quilted wavy vertical lines. You can see that ...

Celebrating Andes Culture with Andina Fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Andina_banner

I don't even know where to begin on this blog post because my excitement for today's collection release is more than what I can express in words! As someone who is from Peru, this collection means a lot more to me as it has a lot of prints that represent who I am and where I come from. As soon as I saw “Andina” in the works and why, my heart skipped a beat. Andina was inspired by the Andes culture, which takes a few elements from several countries on the western side of South America like their ...

A Color Explosion Baby Quilt from Dizzy Quilts

Baby quilts are so much fun to make - they are usually fairly quick and don't take a lot of fabric. When I'm in the mood for a fast finish, a baby quilt is usually my go-to.

For my latest finish, I once again looked through my collection of Bonjour Quilts patterns and chose to make Color Explosion.

The pattern calls for 16 fat quarters in cool and warm colours (8 of each). My stash of fat quarters has dwindled over the last few months and I haven't replenished it yet so my choices were somewhat limited. But ...

Arrow Baby Quilt from Dizzy Quilts

There has been a lot of talk and writing about blogs no longer being "relevant" and how fewer and fewer bloggers are active anymore. I guess that's due to the rise of Instagram and how quickly you can share on that platform. But I love writing and sharing on my blog and I still follow many, many bloggers. I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon either.

The baby quilt I finished is a result of a blog post from Lee Heinrich from Freshly Pieced which she published back in 2018.

This is such a simple design but the ...

The Ella Quilt by Kitchen Table Quilting from Dizzy Quilts

I'm not sure how I didn't buy the Ella Quilt pattern when it first came out because I love the design! And of course I can't remember when I saw this pattern again or what prompted me to buy it this time around, but when I was making my sewing plans for the first quarter of 2021, it needed to be part of those plans.

The pattern requires a background fabric (I used Kona Ash) and 8 fat quarters. I really like that as far as colours and prints, anything goes really for this pattern. I had ...

A Red Table Runner for Max from Dizzy Quilts

My son Max moved into a new apartment this last July. Now that his apartment is decorated, furnished and he has a good idea of what his needs are, he asked me to make him a new table runner for his dining area. He didn't have requests in terms of design, but asked for red and white and provided very specific measurements.

I scrolled through Pinterest for some ideas and found a pattern which I thought would be perfect: the Log Cottage runner pattern by Fresh Dew Drops. I already had Kona White and the perfect fat quarter for ...

Shattered Star Table Runner from Dizzy Quilts

Early in September, Shannon Fraser of Shannon Fraser Designs put out a call for testers for the new pattern she'd be releasing on October 1: Shattered Star. I haven't been able to test any patterns lately because of work - the deadlines are typically pretty tight so I always had to say no.

However, when Shannon reached out and I saw the design, I just had to do it! I knew it would be very difficult for me to commit to testing a full size quilt, but she had so many options for her new pattern, I figured I ...

New Placemats! from Dizzy Quilts

At the end of January, Yvonne who blogs at Quilting Jetgirl, published a tutorial for placemats. I love Yvonne's transparency patterns and these placemats looked so striking, I just had to add these to my To Make list.

At first, I was going to use up scraps for these (you know I've been on a crusade to use up all the scraps!) but then I discovered a stack of Karen Lewis fat quarters in my stash so went with those. Also, I have grand plans to re-decorate the dining room this Spring and black, grey and white are ...

Baby Heart Log Cabin Quilt from Dizzy Quilts

Our family will be welcoming baby twin girls in just a few weeks and I couldn't be more excited!

When I asked my daughter-in-law which colours she'll be using in the nursery, she said white, gold and pink. I had the perfect stack of fat quarters in my stash and decided to pair that with some pink scraps. I found a scrappy log cabin pattern from Sew Can She a little while ago and went with that!

I love the gold in the background fabrics. This was a really easy and fun quilt top to put together - just ...
